Back at camp…

June 15th, 2009 by admin

Well, school’s out and camp has begun! Im taking my first course this week in 3D Game Design with the Unreal Engine. I already know how to create rooms, add weapons/vehicles, create player spawns, create lighting, create AI paths, change textures, add meshes, and import textures. Now it’s time to work on moving objects with Kismet, UnrealScript, cinematics, further customization of meshes, and perhaps even animation and importation of objects/players.

Right now Im working on a simple test map built up of epilepsy barricades, cloud walls/ceilings, ONE weapon locker and a vehicle in the back. I just also added a tunnel with an elevator(WORKING) up to a hallway and another room. Its just a map for fun at this point. Ive tested it out with bots already, heres some screenshots:

I made another test map but I kinda crashed it with lighting defects. By Friday Ill have a perfectly working level(possibly cinematic and models?) and Ill get screenshots and hopefully a download for those of you that own Unreal Tournament 3 for PC.

About Camp So Far

Well, Im having a good deal of fun other than getting no sleep due to some form of heartburn I experienced last night. As you can tell I’ve been busy. Im happy to be able to make this blog post. Im working on getting some content off ot the ID Tutorial website so I can use them after my weeks of camp are over. Im bowling tomorrow(I think?) and watching a movie wednesday or thursday. I’ll be sure to write more later, for now Im off to dinner at a very good Campus cafe/cafeteria thing.

Cheers,

Zeph
